Wanted to share this before the topic got locked. But based on moderator discussions and suggestions. We will be hosting a monthly "state of the site" topic at the end of each month* going forward. More details to come!
what is the context of this postA topic last month where we were told that the way we expected a Community Manager to do their job is not the way Fandom expects a Community Manager to do their job.
If he makes a good faith attempt to actively improve the site, I'm all for it.
If he makes a good faith attempt to actively improve the site, I'm all for it.Agreed I believe the site can be improved but Fandom's current focus on ads revenue is just...bad.
He's a figurehead put here by Fandom so that everyone directs their anger at him. He has no power over the website. This will change nothing.According to a mod, he's been keeping Fandom at bay. Of course we won't be able to verify that statement for ourself since DToast and the mods prefer to work in secret.
what is the context of this postContext added to op. The original 500 posts topic was titled:
state of the site: worse than the SBAllah era :/We're speedrunning the death of gamefaqs
Ah good, more feedback to be ignored.Ssshhhh. They might hear you :)
According to a mod, he's been keeping Fandom at bay.Are you interested in volcano insurance?
Name one instance in all history in which Fandom ever improved anything or listened to community feedbackThe million dollar question here
Bad faith adminBad faith user detected
Da problem with dis is he values gamefaqs moderators opinions over us lower peasantsYeah I don't understand this either. He could easily run a poll if he didn't want to talk to us peasants but no, he chose the silent treatment method * shrugs *
Are you interested in volcano insurance?Hahaha relax, I didn't say I believed that. In fact I said we can't verify/prove that statement
I just want them to make Cloudy Blue the default color scheme and/or make the site permanently remember the user's preferred color scheme.Hey hey hey, another Cloudy Blue user. The default is far too bright.
I've been asking for this for months now with no admin response.
The million dollar question here
At the end of August there was no topic so he lied again. He said it at the end of August, you expected him to drop everything for it?
Hey hey hey, another Cloudy Blue user. The default is far too bright.Need a new prescription every month because it keeps reverting to default white.
I'm all for improving this site and trying to bring in more people
I'm all for improving this site and trying to bring in more people, it's just sad that it seems they only care about what they see as an improvement and don't give a shit about the people who've been visiting this site for years think.https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/4/47cb535e.jpg
I think this site could have real potential, a lot of people don't like what the Internet has become and this site is one of the few remnants of the old Internet still kicking. I feel like leaning into that could create a really unique space.

DToast told me a few months ago no major board changes were planned, but (reasonably) couldn't rule out minor tweaks to situations that arise.
AssultTank told us changes that would receive a lot of backlash are planned, and that Fandom thinks "this site is just a toxic hellhole and most of the users need to go".
At the end of August there was no topic so he lied again.Ah I'm willing to let that one slide since he made that post at the end of August. September however...
I just want them to make Cloudy Blue the default color scheme and/or make the site permanently remember the user's preferred color scheme. There's a chance Fandom doesn't even have someone who can make those changes. The color scheme, x.com autoembed, a weird bug that I once caught here. Don't hold your breath
Remember how he claimed his GPU broke so he couldn't access GameFAQs even though his user page showed him logged in?Yeah that was wild
Sure, we can say the results aren't there, but don't shoot what could be more of the messenger on the broad scale of things. Turning him into soggy toast won't produce anything. The messenger relays his opinion to the actual decision makers. Trouble is he didn't spend any time to fully understand the community before doing that.
Being Fandom, I inherently expect it to be a self-fellating nothingburger where he pretends nothing was or is wrong with how they've handled things. Their MO is pretending to be about community while shitting all over their communities with their corporate bullshit. On top of that, he is personally extraordinarily incompetent, stumbling over everything with the tact of a honey badger. If anything productive comes out of it, I'd be surprised.According to him it's CE who's been acting in bad faith. I don't know but it's weird that we have a Community Manager who doesn't even spend any time with his community.
The first one will also be the last one and it'll just be corpo speak about how the site is shutting down and they thank us for the community we built and other meaningless platitudesTo think that this has become a possible scenario

There was a 500 posts topic here
I'm all for improving this site and trying to bring in more people, it's just sad that it seems they only care about what they see as an improvement and don't give a shit about the people who've been visiting this site for years think.Ads revenue is the one thing they truly care about. Main fandom site is known for driving away the people who've been there since the wikia era.
I was assuming the whole thing is fakeNo fake, DToast did post that quote about the incoming monthly topics. We'll see...
Here? Where?Purged, go to that site. The topic was:
That's the thing though, his job isn't to be a "community manager".
His job is to enforce Fandom's trust and safety policies, starting with the safety. His primary job is to ensure that rules violations are dealt with, the mod staff has oversight, and that things aren't broken on the site.
According to him it's CE who's been acting in bad faith. I don't know but it's weird that we have a Community Manager who doesn't even spend any time with his community.
"weve made sure youve had a dedicated Community Manager - DToast - embedded in your community" - Timmy
That was said before the end of August and we're now a week into September and it didn't happen.Eh, it was late August when that topic happened, so I assumed he would be starting it this month.
Are you interested in volcano insurance? No, I can believe this. We don't have ads after every message yet. So clearly someone is stopping Fandom from going full Fandom on us.
