RIP. This is incredibly sad. How many more people, especially young people and children, have to die or suffer injuries before people give a shit and do something about this here?

If people were to respond honestly to that question, their answers would be horrifying.

Fire Thief posted about this on his IG story today. Was on his way to work when it all went down.

Said they basically sent a whole ass army to the school in response.

Thats sickening to say the least, especially when the usual suspects blame everything from video games to the perp not getting enough love from their parents instead of how the perp got their hands on a firearm to begin with.

Gun nuts are the first to scream "think of the children". But when something like this happens, their instant reaction is "muh gunz"! So what happened to "think of the children"?

You're right, which is why they need to be called out on this. They dont care. They value unabridged access to guns over human life, including children. The elite dont care because their children go to private schools, where this is not as likely to occur. The remainder that dont care can never back up their arguments other than it doesnt matter how many people die because the constitution says/tradition and I just vomit and tell them that they make me sick and have to walk away.

The usual suspects have already said things like "You just have to accept things like this are going to happen."

So the unfortunate answer is, no number exists. These people are fine with this if it means they get to keep their guns but also allow people who shouldn't have guns to have access to them.

The honest answer is anyone who doesn't already care just won't ever care until someone they love is killed in one of these things.

And even then it's debatable if it would actually make them care. I doubt the wife of the man killed at the Trump rally is changing her vote.

The people who don't care now wouldn't care them. That would just increase the push to arm everyone. Then situations like this would increase in frequency and start snowballing out of control.

It happened once. They killed the shooter in like 17 seconds. The shooter still managed to kill like 4 people in those 17 seconds.

I hadn't heard of a school shooting in a while. But just realized that was because schools were closed for the Summer. Looking back that was probably a benefit when COVID hit and all classes had to be online.
Hey now.
I'm really sorry for the people who have to experience stuff like this.

School shootings have become normalized in the US unfortunately. This country values loose gun laws over the lives of children. It's embarrassing to be an American.

Agree. We have to work with the younger voters. There's a cohort of voters perfectly content to live with this as the norm, and they'll never change.

Well the good news is, no trans people were playing sports at the school.

just the daily reminder that the GOP passed more laws to protect children from transgenders than they do from gun violence.

It pains me to say it, but youre right. They just dont care. This is a bit of a pivot, but I was recently discussing the 6 killed hostages in Gaza from last week with my family, who were irate about the protests in Israel (by Israeli citizens) over those deaths and demanding a deal be made to secure the remaining hostages still being held from October 2023. I tried to understand why they were so bent out of shape about it, and my mother said theres no negotiating with the Devil, theres no point in trying to negotiate with Hamas. I said Tell that to the family members of the hostages. I dont think they care what the terms of the deal are, theyd like to see their family members come home. She said You cant negotiate with them. I said Good to know that if I was a hostage over there right now, youd say there was no point trying to strike a deal for my release because they shouldnt be bargained with, right?

There was a very small part of me hoping shed see how, frankly, stupid and non-sympathetic she sounded, but of course she doubled down instead and said Thats exactly right. Theres no hope for these people, it doesnt matter what the situation is. Just yikes is all I can say.

I went to High School in the early 00s in the Bronx in NYC. We had metal detectors and airport type screening to get to class. Along with having to swipe an ID card. There were also guards by every entrance in the building. It wasn't until I went to college that I realized having a school experience like that mainly happened in the lower income area schools. Other parts of NYC dont deal with metal detectors all you have to do is show an ID and no one checks your bags. And there were barely any guards after you get into the entrance of a school/building. The rich parts as well as what will probably be said in response to this or other shootings is dont make our kids feel like they are in prison.

If this school was one of those no checking bags I imagine once inside if you had a gun there arent any guards close by to save the day. So a shooter will be able to kill a bunch of people before the guards are alerted anything happened.

I went to Elementary/JH school in Queens. There was an actual cop there every day. Not just a guard. I don't think violence was the main concern though. He was almost certainly there to watch for drugs.

Even if there were it wouldn't fucking matter. These "school resource officers" always run and hide like everyone else once the shooting starts. They're about as useful as the fucking Uvalde cops, where they'll send an army to just stand around outside while the shooter executes kids.

Gotta protect thw officers' lives, after all.

At least four people were killed in a shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, according to law enforcement sources out of the state. About 30 more were injured, although its unclear how many of the injuries are from gunshot wounds, the sources said.

A suspect is in custody, according to authorities.

There is two state of minds. Back when I was younger I thought 9/11 just happened the year before so it was something schools were doing for security. Espically since when I entered in Fall of 2002 the DC sniper was going on in Oct 2002. Now that I am older I think it was a thing to prevent gang violence like guns/knives getting in. There wasn't even that many shootings happening back then in 2002. I think the biggest by then was maybe Columbine.

I was trying to say the shooting wouldnt have been prevented. I wasn't trying to come off as defending "good guy with a gun". Once inside like I said it is going to be a mass casualty event before any one gets close to the shooter. The day isnt saved if people already died. It would be more of a contain the death toll from being higher.

Has anyone else ever had to go through metal detectors to go to school?

The solution is to vote blue down the ticket so GoPers get kicked from office and sensible gun control can happen.

We need a constitutional amendment. Any gun control we pass is going to be tissue paper without a constitutional amendment to back it up.

Just another day unfortunately. Every time a school shooting happens, you have people here complaining about guns, throw whatever dumb joke about how could this happen?, a few weeks pass and its all forgotten about until the next one. Thats reality and it fucking sucks.
So Mike Collins is bringing up the DEMOCRAT DROP BOXES.

BUT he may have made that statement in the video above before the production company of 2000 Mules, a documentary by Dinesh D'Souza, basically discredited the documentary and issued a retraction and apology. There were accusations made against a person who used the drop boxes but was just putting his votes for his Wife and Child in there, not that one man was voting three times.

This all boils down to Trump going on about election fraud for months before the last election, so when he loses SURPISE! election fraud! Just like I said. They seem to be grasping at straws all because of lies Trump made up.

It's pretty sad not gonna lie.

If nothing happened after Sandy Hook, nothing will ever happen.

Sadly, this country decided a long time ago that kids getting gunned down on a regular basis is the price were willing to pay to keep our toys.
The difference between fiction and reality is that fiction has to make sense.

Do you think JD Vance ever considers guns being the #1 cause of death among children and his party's refusal to do anything about it when he's lashing out at childless women (always women, never men, oddly enough)?
