RIP. This is incredibly sad. How many more people, especially young people and children, have to die or suffer injuries before people give a shit and do something about this here?

If people were to respond honestly to that question, their answers would be horrifying.

Well, theres absolutely no way to prevent this, except maybe we should arm every staff member and every student in every school. Thoughts and prayers.
Half of the US, if not more

The honest answer is anyone who doesn't already care just won't ever care until someone they love is killed in one of these things.
And even then it's debatable if it would actually make them care. I doubt the wife of the man killed at the Trump rally is changing her vote.
Over 400 million guns in circulation. We are currently saturated at 1.25 guns per person, including children and infants. It happened once. They killed the shooter in like 17 seconds. The shooter still managed to kill like 4 people in those 17 seconds.
Still waiting for this magical "good guy with a gun" to show up and save the day.
I hadn't heard of a school shooting in a while. But just realized that was because schools were closed for the Summer. Looking back that was probably a benefit when COVID hit and all classes had to be online.School shootings have become normalized in the US unfortunately. This country values loose gun laws over the lives of children. It's embarrassing to be an American.

I went to High School in the early 00s in the Bronx in NYC. We had metal detectors and airport type screening to get to class. Along with having to swipe an ID card. There were also guards by every entrance in the building. It wasn't until I went to college that I realized having a school experience like that mainly happened in the lower income area schools. Other parts of NYC dont deal with metal detectors all you have to do is show an ID and no one checks your bags. And there were barely any guards once you got into the entrance of a school/building. The rich parts as well as what will probably be said in reponse to this or other shootings is dont make our kids feel like they are in prison.I went to Elementary/JH school in Queens. There was an actual cop there every day. Not just a guard. I don't think violence was the main concern though. He was almost certainly there to watch for drugs.
If this school was one of those no checking bags I imagine once inside if you had a gun there arent any guards close by to save the day. So a shooter will be able to kill a bunch of people before the guards are alerted anything happened.

These "school resource officers" always run and hide like everyone else once the shooting starts. They're about as useful as the fucking Uvalde cops, where they'll send an army to just stand around outside while the shooter executes kids.
At least four people were killed in a shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, according to law enforcement sources out of the state. About 30 more were injured, although its unclear how many of the injuries are from gunshot wounds, the sources said.
A suspect is in custody, according to authorities.

You say that as if any guards would save the day had any been there.
Sorry, but I am still annoyed about the Uvalde shooting, and really-long-name high school in Florida shooting.
It's so sad that shit like this keeps happening. RIP to the victims. We really need a solution.
The solution is to vote blue down the ticket so GoPers get kicked from office and sensible gun control can happen.

The shooter is apparently 14 years old.
