Pokemon Green and Butter
The horrors persist but so do I.
Scarlet is the most interesting to me, but it also runs the worst.

do you want linear or not
both games are solid with dlc, SwSh are just very linear (until the dlc, which is open) and ScarVio are very open throughout

I was super disappointed in SwSh on release but they were fun to revisit with the expansion pass

The Diamond/Pearl remakes might be a good entry point if you haven't played in 20 years, the mechanics and presentation will feel the most familiar compared to the older games.

Let's Go might be a good re-entry point as well but it's a bit of a departure.

Sword and Shield are solid games imo, with some great new designs.

Legends: Arceus is another departure from the standard Pokemon formula, but in a very fun and interesting way that a lot of people enjoy.

Scarlet and Violet are, imo, the best Pokemon games to date, but really handicapped by having poor performance. If you can look past that though you'll really enjoy them.
Scarlet/Violet for a poorly optimized but mostly fun open world attempt.

Legends Arceus for a bad looking but very fun new take.

Sword/Shield suck.

What do you guys mean by bad performance for pokemon scarlet

Pokemon Scarlet/Violet lacks polish. When I say that I mean there was practically zero polish or quality control after it finished development. There graphics are inexcusably bad and there are tons of technical issues, lag, texture pop-in and glitches.
Thanks for reading!
Get Violet over Scarlet. The sci-fi/future themes are cooler than prehistoric ones.

it runs like total shit for the most part

they actually showed some ambition with it, which is nice, but it definitely needs some optimization. and I think the optional/open ended path system makes the game feel a bit...scattered. I know you can choose to just stick to one progression path, but the map still has icons everywhere so it can be confusing

Let's Go is alright, but it's very different from the regular pokemon game formula. I enjoyed seeing updated versions of the original games, but not having the random battles feels kinda weird.
I could see you, but I couldn't hear you You were holding your hat in the breeze Turning away from me In this moment you were stolen...
Arceus or New Pokemon Snap
...I think I'm done here...
Scarlet and Violet have a lot of issues with animations, textures, and lag, but you'll also see a lot of people getting hyperbolic about exactly how bad the issues are. I don't know how it runs on an OLED, but when I played through it on my launch model Switch, I found that it handled itself a little better in handheld mode than when docked.
oh yeah for Scar/Vio they were absolutely fine when I played them a year after they launched

some slowdown in battles and wild pokes might only have like 7 frames a second but the game worked just fine

Arceus is a really fun departure from tradition. The ways you interact with wild pokemon are way more interesting. There might be less content, but it's more fun content imo. SV do run like dog shit most of the time and freeze entirely occasionally, but open world pokemon is still pretty cool. Also they have Lechonk, the most important pokeyman.

SV is the traditional experience, PLA is more focused on catching Pokemon.
currently waiting for my turn in Master Duel.
So is pokemon legends a real game or is it like a gimmicky spinoff because you guys seem to like it more

Gamefreak calls it a mainline game but it's more of a spinoff imo. The combat system is similar but a little different from the other games. There aren't any gyms or E4. There are a few new pokemon and forms and they can be transferred to and from the other games with Pokemon Home, so it's at least closely connected to the traditional mainline games.

New Pokemon Snap is by far the best Pokemon game on Switch

I didn't like New Snap. There's so much rerunning the same course with minor (or no) variations just to get to actually new content. I guess that's probably what the original game was, but it felt bad to me.

Also trying every item on every pokemon to try to get a reaction was annoying. Especially when you look up the solution and it turns out you actually had to use this one item six times in a row even though there was no reaction to the first five.

Also the game's judgment of pics can be a little wonky. Like what do you see in these pics?

Really, professor? No subject? You don't spot any fish facing the camera in the center of the frame? Oh okay, my mistake, professor.
