I use videos in a few courses I teach (university) and I'm trying to reorganize some of the content. I have one video that has been on my playlist for years, and now I suddenly can't save it to a new playlist.

It tells me: "This action is turned off for content made for kids."

First of all, the video is about a tragic fire, so definitely NOT for kids.

Second, why would content made for kids NOT be able to be put into playlists? Wouldn't parents want to make playlists for their kids?

none of the youtube changes are ever good or make sense except for changing the color of the tracking bar white when a video is playing

Just mark it not for children. No reason not to.

That's not new, it's just weird that video is flagged for kids.

Videos flagged for kids can't be added to playlists and turn off autoplay.

But why wouldn't you want kid videos on a playlist if you have kids?

And yes, it's weird, because it is a 9 year old video that was only switched in the past couple of months

Because YouTube as a whole is incapable of thinking about their design paradigms for more than thirty seconds.

This is what I do for my videos, but then Youtube automatically puts it back as made for kids and sends me an email about the update. To be fair my videos are 100% for kids but I really want to keep the comment section. They really don't like it when you manually change it back to not made for kids lol.

Actually they can be added to playlists if you do so by going to the playlist and inserting the link of the video you want to include.

Sweet! Didn't know that was a thing (and it's really not obvious how to do it without clicking through a bunch of screens)

On the other hand, there has been more legal uploads of various past animations from official right holders.

Such The Raccoons from Run With Us Productions and Liberty Kids from Wildbrain.
