The thing I like about Trump is how relatable he is. He started with only a measly fortune, was handed a buisness by his father. Never had to interview for a job in his life.

I don't exactly get people thinking an old money business man is of and/or for the people. Imagine if J.D Rockefeller ran for President and people said he was a "Man of the people", and John D. Rockefeller Sr. was a better person than Trump is.

Imagine that being said of any large Tycoon of the last 150 years. "J.P Morgan is a man of the people, he understands the plight of the working class." What? He was an investment banker from a rich family. "Andrew W. Mellon is a man of the people, he understands the plight of the working class". Same thing. Was even an anti-trust politician.

What just because Trump was on the idiot box he's special? Because he had a TV show? I'd rather trust the Ford progeny than that New York snake and their rat family and William C Ford Jr. went to Princeton and not a Michigan college.

I understand the turn of phrase and it really being up to 'The People', but why?

I feel like the easiest explanation of that is the combination of consumer culture and company culture of "we're a family" and people actually believing that shit for some reason, or not really being at the wrong end of it because they're brown nosing, learned narcissistic shits trying to get ahead.
