To do so would be him very publicly admitting to making a mistake, something his ego will not allow
There's no way Vance will go willingly because he's a grifter, no grifter just fucks off when they have so much attention no matter how negative it is.

If he loses he can pin all blame on Vance and tank his career,scapegoating him entirely and calling him a traitor, his nutty base will look back on his past and his wife and start screaming that he's a liberal plant or some crazy shit like that.

His ego will allow him to make a mistake if it is done in the form of belittling the person he made the mistake over. I've seen him do it before. "I was so wrong about so-and-so, they're a total loser/etc."

Honestly, he might as well drop him. Vance has done enough damage to his campaign as you can see by the polling.

I went from totally thinking Trump was winning to the exact opposite.

He might as well pull the trigger on that and see what happens. He isn't winning anyways.

If he were smart he would either replace him or make him back out of public speaking for a while, or at least to avoid talking childless stuff.

But this is Trump. He won't do the smart or logical thing.

He is already deflecting it acting like Vance doesn't matter at all. He thinks only he himself is important in this, as "no one knows or cares about VPs". Replacing him at this point feels unlikely.

He doesn't need to really. Trump supporters don't look at media that exposes Vance's craziness so it doesn't matter. The fucker could get arrested naked in Walmart and they'd never know about it. And if they did find out they wouldn't believe it or care because go Trump. lol
