So after setting up my TV I originally didn't take off the the stickers around the frame of the screen, the yellow energy saving notice, etc. and was angling the TV to remove the stickers after it was standing up. Problem is the antenna I had hooked up was above the TV and it came swinging down after I angled the TV without realizing it and it landed on the upper-right of the screen and cracked it. Would I be able to exchange it without the protection plan for a new one or am I screwed lol

yes.

there is another way.... depends how much you spent on that TV could lie and say that you received it that way.

edit: after reading the next post... gotta say LG is a great brand to pick (at least to me imo).

It was an LG 32" I was gonna use for my PS5 I just got in my rooom so around 150 after tax. You can see the impact on the screen digitally it looks like a perfect circle and then the distorted color bars and image, etc.,

Its kind of a yes no thing honestly because you could lie about it and say the TV was damaged in box. Obviously that becomes a morality issue.

Fuck Walmart, just say it was like that out of the box.

0% chance they wont let you exchange it. Just bring a receipt and say it got damaged while you were setting it up. Just be nice and itll be fine.

It's not like you did it on purpose. Return policies are supposed to cover accidental incidents. You're good to do it as long as it hasn't been over 30 days.
I mean they arent supposed to cover accidents at all. Otherwise a lot of return fraud would happen far more then it does now.

Even if true, that doesn't change the point I made that they can return an item within the time frame.

You are allowed to return an item for any reason within that time frame, so long as you have the receipt and all items in the box. There is no wrong doing in doing that. At all. Only when it's past the given days is it 'wrong'.

I mean its always been true yes you can return things within a time period but generally rule of thumb certain reasons arent a valid reason for return. If you accidentally damage a product the rule is you arent allowed to return it. Manufacturer issues or if it was damaged prior to purchase.

Hence why I said "hasn't been over 30 days" and then the following "Only when it's past the given days is it 'wrong'."

Glad we are in agreement.
Again thats only a part of the return policy in general it doesnt negate the fact that accidents that the customer causes arent returnable.

Ignore all that^^^^

It's fine TC. As long as you have the receipt, do it within the allowed timeframe, and have all the items in the box, you're good to go.

Just say it was like that. They see enough of it to know it happens all the time.

I've bought a bricked PC, a smashed tv, a broken motherboard. Got them all replaced.

Pretty sure my bitch ass demon cousin broke the motherboard tho.

Cant say for Walmart but this was my experience with Best Buy

Bought a tv a few years ago and brought it home only to found out there was a huge ass crack in the screen that's only noticeable when you have the TV on. Brought it back within an hour (luckily I live close by) and the employee there said they generally dont take it back but because I brought it back almost immediately, they took my word that it was damaged beforehand and let me exchange it out for another one. Said if I had brought it back the next day or after, I would have had a much harder chance of them exchanging it.

Hope it works out for you TC
If you have the receipt, and the box and such put it all back in there, take it back to walmart and say when I plugged in my TV the top right part was damaged already.

Just exchange it for the same exact TV and you'll be alright. Do not tell them you damaged it like another poster stated just say it came like that. As long as you have the receipt and you bought it like a few days ago and not months ago you should be fine.

Sorry didn't read through the entire topic to see if anyone had mentioned this.

That's what I'm afraid of that they might not take it back because I didn't go back right away

You could just pile onto the lie of it being broken in box as claiming it was a gift for someone.

This.

Also, tvs have antennas in 2024?
How quaint.
No, but you can easily add a antenna if you want to since almost all TVs have a F connector port on them.

Yeah if it's within the actual return window retail stores could not care less why you're returning it, because unless it has very noticeable physical damage they're just going to return it as factory defect/shipping damaged/whatever and get credit for a new one anyway

They only care when it comes to extended warranties

To be clear like if you tell them "oh yeah i was the one that damaged it" then depending on the employee they may fight you a bit, but if you go "well it came out of the box like this" you're not hurting anyone since that's what they're likely going to say anyway when they send it back
