You don't lose karma, but some people find it hard to earn enough karma to post because subs require karma to post. It's a requirement because bots run
rampant
on reddit.
And yeah, GameFAQs is generally better about it. Like if you're making a post on a subreddit, you have to check their rules because most of them have specific ones that will just auto-delete your post if you don't follow them.
