well it was fun but the motion control scheme worked better for more casual games like Wii Sports or Wii Fit.

not so much for the Marios and Zeldas and whatnot. for that, i rather play with a regular controller...

nice slick black!! Just like my hair!
I had issues with motion controls in about 1 out of every 20 Wii games.

Ah, yes, the console with a library that even outperformed the Wii in its barrenness.
N64 fanboys were worst
Don't like it? Don't watch it. It's that simple
Dictator of Nice Guys
The extreme haters were worse, for sure, but lol the motion controls ended up being kind of a flop huh?

In my opinion, motion control was best used for aiming, and Im glad to see that that was adapted into modern controllers. But, god, I hated using the Wiimote for attacking (especially when it was just waggle in place of a button press) and steering.
A George divided itself cannot stand!!
I still liked the Wii library more than the 360 and PS3.

It was posted on SmackJeeves. GameTrailers forum made fun of it for a while.

I'll give the comic creator partial credit because gyro aiming is still around, but yeah.... full on motion controls just aren't very fun and they generally dragged games down.
You felt your sins weighing on your neck.
God Resident Evil 4 was so great with the Wii controls, instead of slow scroll up to head, head shot! Slow scroll up to next head, repeat, it was Head shot! Head shot! Head shot! I miss that control, I also miss light gun games.
Water+Fall=Radiation.
It worked really well for some games, but made it really awkward for many others. Motion controls werent just a fad, but the Wii dove in head first and neither the industry nor the technology was ready for that. Still was a big financial success that was emulated by its competitors, especially in the fitness arena.
Console war fanboys have always been the worst, and Nintendo's have always been the worst of the worst.

Nintendo could ship a literal gun in a box that shoots you when you try to open it and the Internet will insist it's both revolutionary gameplay and revolutionary marketing.

The Wii was dogshit. I don't care how many units it sold.

It's more that it now seems like 90% of any gaming nostalgia has to be about the N64 for some reason

Twilight Princess on the GameCube was objectively superior to Twilight Princess of the Wii purely due to the controls. There's a reason why the Wii U remake used the GameCube control scheme instead of the Wii's.

The N64 was fucking terrible, not sure why people love it. SM64, OoT, and Mario party(in all it's hand breaking glory) were it's worthwhile contributions really.

I dunno, I found a handful of games for it that I really liked. It does have one of my smallest libraries though.

On the first party front, most of my favorite series either got forgotten completely (F-Zero, Yoshi) or had really underwhelming and/or generic installments (Kirby, Mario, DKC). Seems they threw all their good ideas and effort into the stuff I don't like/care about (Zelda, Pikmin, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, Mario Kart). So all that was really left of interest to me was Brawl and Metroid, and between the three games of those properties that were on Wii, one of them (Other M) was a series lowpoint to boot.

In the third party space, the RE4 port was really good and... um... Well, the RE4 port was good.

I do still have a handful I've yet to get around to. Tales of Symphonia 2 was a gift (honestly, I didn't like 1 anywhere near enough to try out the sequel yet). Xenoblade Chronicles and Kirby Epic Yarn I panic purchased when the Wii U shop closed, and to be fair both seem like they're totally my thing, so I might end up adding those to my list of good Wii games, which would almost double its length (lol).

Basically, the Wii was my Brawl machine. I bought it for Brawl, and honestly for that it was pretty much worth it. I loved Brawl.

The Wii actually had a pretty damn good library. It's just buried under all the sheer amount of shovelware that the system got.

Thats because Twilight Princess was originally made for the GameCube.

I mean, Skyward Sword just proved clearly that motion controls are garbage compared to controls designed for a controller.

to clear a few things up:

  1. the wheel was invented only about 6000 years ago. it wasn't invented by cavepeople.
  2. the ancients knew the earth was a sphere. in fact the circumference of the earth was correctly calculated by Eratosthenes in the 3rd century BC.

Corrected that for you.
Dreamcast has one of the best libraries. If you grab any random game, there's a good chance it was rated 8/10. Seriously, even if it's not my favorite console, it's hard to deny that every game seemed to have love put into it.
