Tornado watch means conditions are favorable for a tornado to form. Tornado warning means a tornado has been detected.

Be safe!

Well, if we do have one here, I'd hate to pass on the opportunity to let them know.

we don't have tornadoes here, and Twisters isn't in theaters yet
I could see you, but I couldn't hear you You were holding your hat in the breeze Turning away from me In this moment you were stolen...
Do the local TV stations still put like a TW up in the corner so you know?
Every day I wake up and promise I will be nice to everyone, then I deal with people at work and remember why that will never happen.

This.

Even a "tornado warning" in my experience has just meant "extremely severe thunderstorm".

I imagine most people don't actually see it because they'll declare a warning for an entire county or even multiple, but the warning does mean the tornado has been detected.

Can I have your stuff before you die?

In most cases yes, but in one case for me it meant here is a fucking tornado running right through your house at 2am. So ya never know.

Yeah, I know. Luckily in my experiences, I have never had a tornado in my immediate area.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that.

Even though I've never been through a tornado, they'd been a recurring staple of my dreams since childhood.

Tornado warnings often come from rotation on Doppler radar. It basically means "there is a tornado or one could very quickly develop."

It's one of those things that's really neat from a bit of a distance when you can see clearly, but it's very scary if you can't see it or if you're in its path or one of the inflow jets.

All good.. The damage couldve been much worse. By the time it went through us it had weakened and was probably EF2/3, and we were not in the direct center which helped.

The roof held up and just needed to be repaired, a broken window had to be repaired, and we had flooding in the basement. And a couple trees in the back fell. Pretty lucky though as the trees missed the house and power lines.

The worst was the power being out for over a week and a half, but insurance covered Airbnb stays which was good. The insurance basically went through and just cut checks for homes that were in the path.

Its crazy though, our house escaped major damage but the one right across the street had to be gutted and rebuilt due to a tree falling on it.

The worst thing was just the fact it happened so late. With the power out and it being pitch black out we had no idea the extent of the damage until the next morning, when I was going to leave the house and was like well, downed trees are blocking the whole road, so never mind I guess.

My wife, her mother, and my mother. I couldn't guess how many times I've had to explain this to them.
I'm not here for friends. I'm here for the truth to the best of my knowledge of it, even if it's not what people want to hear.
