A woman in Germany has been given a harsher sentence than a convicted rapist after she was found guilty of defaming him.
Maja R, a 20-year-old from Hamburg, called him a disgraceful rapist pig and a disgusting freak, defamatory under German law.
He was one of nine attackers who gang-raped a 15-year-old girl in a Hamburg park in 2020, in a case that shocked the city.
Maja R was sentenced to a weekend in jail for her verbal attacks. The rapist was given a suspended sentence and served no prison time due to his age.
The sentence has sparked anger over what critics see as the flaws in Germanys judicial system, with disproportionate punishment for defamation.

How much we betting the kid who got off scot free on rape has rich parents?

All were under 20 at the time, allowing them to be subject to juvenile law. Only one of them spent any time in jail, an Iranian national, who was 19 years old at the time, though its not clear why. Speaking about the rape in court, he asked: What man doesnt want that?
The rest of the attackers, including the one defamed by Maja R, were given suspended sentences. Anne Meier-Goering, the presiding judge, lamented during the trial that none of the defendants said a word of regret.
I feel like this is probably a more important detail?
if you want to be duckbear you gotta put some effort into it
Shithole country. They've been getting worse recently, sadly.
Personally framing it as an issue of who gets more punishment rather than a rapist despite being convicted of said rape getting no punishment is an extremely weird thing angle to take in my opinion.
It was a gang rape in germany. I would bet large sums of money it wasn't some rich kid with affluential parents.even youre wary of saying what you mean just like that news source. why people arent fucked off with all the censorship astounds me
Edit: from the article:

Is it really that important of a detail, though? Regardless of age, rape should be punished worse, period.
I thought Germany was a developed country. This is like some villager shit from 500 years ago.
This is one of the hubris of developed countries going too far. Being lenient on minors is something more developed countries tend to do. Being harsher on hurtful rhetoric is also something developed countries have been cracking harder on. Combine the extremes of both and you get stuff like this.

What does this story have to do with being lenient on minors? A minor was gangraped in part by a guy ruled too old to serve prison time. The message here is that he's not too old to rape but apparently too old to incarcerate and that's a shit message.
Yeah it sucks that she was locked up for a weekend for defaming him (especially since it sounds like what she said was accurate), however the worst issue is the former.

WesternMedia, you have apparently summoned me, however I cannot see your post.

Oh, if you blocked or were blocked by the below quote then I suppose that makes a bit more sense. Still it's more reasonable to assume it's a minor than an elderly person.
The rapist was a minor. Since when have people been given lenient sentences because they were too old for prison? I mean, it probably has happened before but the vast majority of the time it's for minors.
Gotcha, thanks.
While there are situations where someone is so old they're shown mercy by the court, I admit it's on me for not properly researching that and I jumped to a conclusion. It makes more sense that they were given leniency due to being a minor.
