My girlfriend was posted up in a parking lot between calls. She spotted one of the regular 911 abusers there with a little Frenchie pup. It's too hot in Bakersfield for these dogs to be living on the street and he wasn't doing well. The guy said that he'd let her have the dog for $50.

He knocked right out after the bath and food and he totally slept through us removing his ticks.

We'll be taking him to a vet tomorrow. Make sure he's ok and find out if he has a chip and a family that he needs to be returned to. We're really hoping that he does.

It's not a war crime the first time.
Nice looking pup.
Italian, French, German.
Bought a dog?

I always think of John Mulaney when I see a french bulldog.
So, where did a guy living on the street get a $3000 dog he'd sell for $50?

Hopefully you can find the real owner. He should be chipped.

We're not keeping him. The guy wouldn't let the dog be saved without getting paid for his next fix. So no, she rescued that dog by paying what was essentially a ransom fee for an almost certainly stolen dog that will now be returned to its real family, if they can be found. If not, we will find another good home for him.

Exactly! A chronically homeless addict is extremely unlikely to have a dog like this in any legitemate capacity. But you don't ask those questions. You don't want to piss them off by accusing them of stealing it. Someone is missing him and we hope to be ble to reunite them.

Oh! Yes. No chip so we couldn't retutn him to his family. We gave him to a rescue run by veterinarian that my girlfriend knows. She owns her own practice down here so he's getting everything. Full check up, shots, flea and tick treatment, antibiotics and treatment for some small wounds. She's going to neuter him, put some weight on him and get rid of his worms. Then find a nice family for him. She did say he looks really good considering his circumstances.

He was super friendly and just wanted to be loved. But we don't have room for another pet. He'll make a good friend for someone.

A shame you couldn't find his original family, but at least he's safe.

I hope so!
A good outcome. Very lucky you two came along.

The vet that we handed him over to is involved with a couple of lost pet networks, so there's still a chance that his family might be found.

i wish i had room.

definitely would adopt one but living situation and finances either unstable or not make enough. it benefited my health from not getting edema in my leg plus gaining a companion in return for dog getting care and plenty of petting.
currently playing: Yakuza Kiwami 2 (ps4)
RIP Sophie the dog: February 2011-april 2024. we'll miss you alot.
Thank you for saving him.
