I like the first two, but hated the third enough that I never played any that came afterwards.

mgs1 is also one of the games. Any others?

Why? 3 is arguably the best one. Best balance of cutscene to gameplay in the first 4 games.

I don't know if I'd even call it a "game series" considering some of them are more movie than game.

I didnt like the setting. I didnt feel like the PS2 was really up to it. There was far too much menu and I just didnt care about the story at all. For me personally, there wasnt really anything to like.

3 is my favorite, but I understand.

My first time playing through 3, every single part felt like a chore. "Ugh, now I have to do this. And what's this bullshit I have to do now?"

Then immediately-- and I mean IMMEDIATELY when I beat the game, something magic happened. I retrospectively realized everything I had just done was the coolest stuff I had ever done in a video game.

I told myself if I ever played again, I would savor every single moment. And the next time I played, I did. That 2nd playthrough was one of the coolest 4-ish days of my life.

Edit: read the guy's comment where he said he played on PS2. Yeah, that could also be a damper. Both of my playthroughs were the HD collection.

Need a Portable Ops/Ac!d collection.

Is it a game series? I always thought it was one of those 'interactive narratives'.

Never really cared for the Metal Gear Solid series. Splinter Cell games have better stealth, better controls, gameplay, level design and a less goofy story.

Would you say its one of the most solid games ever made?
