I watch a lot of movies/tv and have enjoyed him in many things over the years but he got sneakily old on me. I just hadnt really thought about how old he truly was.

But yeah he was in his 40s when he was in Animal House and that was 1978. Kiefer is pushing 60 so again it totally adds up. I just hadnt thought about it.

Its like a bunch of shows I watched growing up in the 80s where the actors were all like 30 years old and I look them up now and they are like 75 and its like damn that time went fast

That's really sad to hear. He was one of those actors you just kinda felt like would be around forever. RIP to a legend.

Fun fact: at the time it came out, Sutherland was the biggest star attached to Animal House; convinced that it was going to bomb, he opted to take a flat rate of $70K for his role instead of a percentage of gross. He missed out on millions.

EDIT y'know considering that half of CE probably only knows Sutherland as 'that guy from that meme,' most of y'all probably never heard of Animal House either, so I don't know why I brought it up.

President Snow is the first role of his I think of but I also remember him from A Time to Kill and a bunch of other stuff. I've been meaning to watch Invasion of the Body Snatchers for a while so this might be a good time to do that.

As an old guy, from the meme is funny to me. I saw that movie before the internet even existed.

That is well known Animal House trivia. Hes also the main reason the movie even got greenlit as it was him being connected to the project that made the studio comfortable enough to move forward. Animal House is one of my favorite movies and I watch it 3 or 4 times a year and have every year since the mid 80s.

I also love the special Animal House: The Inside Story. Made in 2008. The best 2 hour documentary on it with interviews of so much of the cast and crew. Its a must watch for any fan.
