Their prices suck. $70 for a new game, that's everyone. $80 for a few extra things. $90 for even more stuff. But Ubisoft? 70 for standard edition, $110 for gold, and a disgusting $130 for the deluxe edition

idk if it was common, but iirc, homosexuality wasn't rare among samurai.

it also reminds me of that Dutch guy in Samurai Champloo, who went to Japan because they were more accepting of homosexuality than his homeland (at least, at the time).

I think it's a fandom for all things Japanese that some gamers are predisposed to versus countries and cultures they don't have an emotional investment in.

The crazy thing is, ubisoft hasn't even really confirmed if either are bisexual. The blog post just states that you'll have different pools of romancable characters depending on who you play as.

Most of the articles I found about samurai practices, outside of just the wiki link for homosexuality in Japan with a subhead for the samurai practice of shudo, would probably be frowned upon by mods. (And even then, the wiki article has enough illustrations that I'm just not going to risk some mark-happy user.)

But, yes. Samurai were pretty gay. With boys. As part of a codified and contractual culture. "Wasn't rare" is very much an understatement.

Most Americans don't know that samurai were actually encouraged to engage in same sex relationships, because you would fight harder to protect people you were with in a war scenario essentially.

But in reality it's because it's easy to give Ubisoft shit about literally everything because everyone hates them.

I think those devs have an exclusivity deal with Sony. Their FF game did the same thing but was brought to PC after a year or two. Might've been the same with the Nioh games.
