I don't think the doctor directly called Spurlock out on it, but he did say he had only ever seen these symptoms and level of deterioration in people who heavily consume alcohol.
True, it was more indirect. He was an alcoholic though and alcohol affects how we process fat. So if he was throwing drinks down while doing this the overall results would be more extreme.
