I just wish the reason everyone is suddenly so strong in Boruto was expounded on just a bit more. Like Himiwari just so happens to be the best and most capable jinchuriki of Kurama because plot needed it? I like Himiwari and I'm glad she's going to be relevant but this could have been done SO much better.

No it couldn't because even the end of Naruto acknowledged there was something Kaguya was afraid of.

Is because they turned Sarada into a. . . I don't even know what to call that.

The main issue I have with Boruto is the fact that they felt the need to ruin many of the characters people loved from the original series. Whether it's bad story choices or criminally awful character design changes (Gaara, what did they do to your hair?), nobody in Boruto is as cool as they were in Naruto.

If it makes you feel better the boruto anime remembered the sharingan can copy jutsu, lol.

The anime also decided to give sarada that chunin promotion she clearly deserved so its something at least.

Naruto suddenly having aliens and then deciding to focus the entire sequel series on that is still just so baffling to me

Sell you on Boruto?

I don't know if I can really sell you on it, but

Boruto(or at least two blue vortex) actually not only has a coherent plot that feels more like an actual story of it's own rather than just a continuation of Naruto, but has been consistently better than most Naruto with its version of shipuuden, two blue vortex. Which takes place 3 years after the original Boruto.

Character and story spoilers:

Boruto has actually become kinda bad ass. His character arc has taken more after Sasuke, and he's a lot more like Sasuke than Naruto. He's not the same dumb kid he was at the start.

Sarada has awoken the MS in a completely new way that's getting a lot of people excited for what her MS abilities are.

Himiwari is now the nine tails jinchuriki and there's a lot of hype

Right now in the story, an ability called omnipotence has changed who Boruto and Kawaki are in the minds of the village. Making everyone think Kawaki is actually Naruto's son, and that Boruto is a Rouge nin who killed Naruto (who isn't actually dead) There are copies of a bunch of konoha Shinobi running around (including a Sasuke copy) with a sentient form of the ten tails which kinda sealed the originals to make these "copies" They're looking around for Naruto and stumble upon Himiwari in his place (has to do with the nine tails) and a fight breaks out where it was revealed Himiwari has the most affinity with kurama and will likely be a jinchuriki like no other.

It has a good mix of things that the early Naruto was known for, along with a bunch of the late game powers and power systems being utilized in a coherent way. No more Chakra mechs, everything has sort of been streamlined and sped up. There is a lot of taijutsu in boruto mixed with powerful and those later series powers. Everyone kinda got a boost so they could deal with it, but it still works well.

I recommend starting Two Blue Vortex and them going back to read the original Boruto if you like where things are headed. Hope that helps.

It was never gonna return to "normal" as long as Naruto and Sasuke existed as they were.

Could you imagine a Part 1 Orochimaru level threat invading the village in Boruto? Well it would never happen because Sasuke would have shut that shit down before they even reach the gate

I'm sad that my boy, Konohomaru, never really gets badass.

he's the Third's grandson, Asuma's nephew, and he gets a little training from Naruto.

he's given Kakashi's role as the leader of team 7, but it looks like he's already been made obsolete

Maybe I didn't explain it the best, but they actually make it work. The copies are called shinju, and they're beings created from the ten tails that copy ninja and are discovering their sentience.

No. I think the only character that canonically died from a shuriken was Danzo and even then he immediately reversed reality and came back to life

I love that Boruto has an ability that gives someone really REALLY bad vertigo that will make them eventually want to kill themselves
