bruh
a grand to get my cats teeth cleaned cus i saw a bunch of red spots on his gums and brought him in. now he needs a tooth extracted which will cost more money and also blood work to see if they can even pull out the tooth safely.

so expensive compared to human dental work. i got a cleaning, a root canal, and a crown without insurance and it was $900
?
Private equity has been scooping up veterinary practices and jacking up prices in recent years.

What a wonderful world.
after years of waiting
nothing came
The last time my cat needed a tooth pulled it was only $400

Yeah, I wish there was insurance for it from my workplace.

The annual check up is, like, always $200-300.

I feel you. I had a cat with cancer that I had to give chemo pills to twice a month for several years, and another with diabetes that I had to give insulin shots to every day for several years. Tens of thousands...
It is impossible to live in the past, difficult to live in the present, and a waste to live in the future.

One reason why I'm done with pets. Trying to keep my dog alive I was spending hundreds per month at the vet. Probably should have had him put down earlier for both of us.

Huh. Makes sense. I wonder if the new emergency clinic thats opening up in my town is PE owned.

Gonna guess most likely.

Well, it makes sense. Vets and techs get paid shit, have to go to schooling that encompasses a wide range of species medicine and have to deal with assholes who dont listen to their professional advice.

I hear far too often at my work about how a fucking breeder knows more than us. Excuse me? No, your idiot breeder knows nothing.

Good on you for bringing your cat in though. The sticker price can be shocking sure, but your cat will feel a hell of a lot better with those bum teeth out of its head.
"Oh man would you just shut up already, how come all you sword guys have to talk about how cool your swords are?"
I've never brushed my cat's teeth in it's 12 years of life. I didn't even know that was a thing

Vets are getting crazy expensive. I found one by me that isnt too bad tho.

It makes me think twice about getting a second dog.

Not calling you a liar, but I either don't believe you, or I don't believe this was in the last 15 years.
Cookin like a chef, I'm a 5 Star Michelin
Thats a big part of why I have no interest in having a pet. Any time I mention that, people are always like iTs NoT tHaT eXpEnSiVe and Im just like bruh
Hurry up, Goldenrod! You're gonna be a permanent resident!
Yeah, my cat had to have surgery and it cost $10,000. Of course pet insurance is allowed to still do the pre-existing conditions bullshit, so that choice is off the table for the future.
Many Bothans died to bring you this post.
Yeah, I decided when I got my pets that there was a limit I'd not cross no matter how much I ended up caring for them. I still get them their shots and take them in for checkups regularly, but I'm not going into debt because they get sick or hurt themselves

i would've done that. depending on the condition.

arthiritis = not a problem
keeping cancer in check = that's where i draw the line.

i was shelling out about 200$ a month for medication (was worth it to keep her alive) for a few years longer. was a healthy dog despite her having arthritis up till the cancer diagnosis (13 year old dog).

would like to get another pet but i don't make enough money to have another one (if i made a few hundred dollars more i could pull it off).

it was last year, their office charges really low and set prices if you dont have insurance and pay with cash. it still costs more than what you'd pay out of pocket with insurance, but they do set prices for pretty much everything and he does "bundles" to help people save $$ if they need more than one treatment.
like my cleaning was free of charge and the root canal was on a front tooth so the "crown" isn't a full cap like normal, but like some thing he melted onto the back of the tooth where he performed the surgery (my tooth didn't have a cavity prior, it was a gum related issue, so even as a root canal it wasn't typical where the tooth pulp gets grinded away for a replacement crown because the tooth still had full integrity)

i was thinking that, but then i was like "ok, i've had my cat since he was 7 weeks old and had to bottle feed him" so im kinda really attached to him, esp cus i dont have any friends :(
?
I paid $700 a few weeks ago for some full body X-rays and for the vet to conclude that my cat is perfectly healthy but likely has anxiety.
Science and Algorithms
This is the reason I'm worried about getting a pet. I was very close to bringing in a stray cat a few months ago, but I decided against it.
