A good shocking ending is, well, good. If it's just "A-ha! We made it look like things would turn out well but then we killed a main character! Get rekt nerds!" well that's just fucking dumb.
I would take a poorly written "Every thing turned out fine!" over that garbage
Bosses are immune to the eat command so it won't be possible to end the final boss fight of the game by eating it.
