At this point does it really matter?Well, that depends: when they role out this feature, do you want or need Microsoft to take screenshots of your computer screen to use with AI? Do you trust that only you will have access to this data and that it will be private? If you answered "no" to either of those questions, then you need to know this is coming so you can disable it and use your computer privately and securely.
honestly be great for those that do work on their computer.Ignoring the privacy, legal, and security concerns, I fail to see the value-add for having Copilot hep you look through screenshots taken every few seconds of what you were doing before.
it's frustrating as an artist knowing that I've been drawing the whole time on the wrong layer. All this is going to be is an AI screenshot and search function. You can't roll back to what you were doing before, you can just look at it.
Neat, I won't be using it.
As opposed to the current system, where they're already doing all of that? What evidence do you have that Windows is currently taking a screenshot of your screen every few seconds?
I dont even think you can turn it off. I have windows auto updates turned off and it still forced me to download an update for the AI trial thingThe feature hasn't been rolled out yet, and is currently planned for Windows 11 only so more details don't seem to be known.
Aslong as i can turn it off fine otherwise fuck you ms
This will be good for businesses tbh. Saves needing to buy a third party tool to do it.I haven't seen anything to suggest this is being designed for businesses. The data apparently will be encrypted and stored locally and tied to the logged in account. But even if that can be changed, the business value would be minimal. Companies can already log key presses, log used software, and log all internet activity with less of a performance penalty and using less disk space.
Its Microsoft. Theyll find a way to monetise it eventually. And yes there are other tools out there. But Microsoft will do their usual thing of making it free then when enough people sign up charge for it.
