You'd be surprised, actually. Even if you don't count those people that they say can do real echolocation, a lot of blind people get along waaaaay better than you'd expect.
My next door neighbor is blind, and he and I moved a sofa into his house last weekend. I had to tell him to move a bit to the right getting through the door but other than that you'd have never guessed. Up a couple stairs, around a corner, then he slid it right into place perfectly centered under a window and turned toward me to shake my hand
even though I had moved since the last time I spoke.
He has clearly been blind a
long
time.
I'm sure there's all kinds of accessibility stuff for phones so you could just get your entertainment from podcasts and ebooks for a few years. Transportation would be the biggest challenge. But on the other hand, you're loaded enough to have everything brought to you.
