The AI. Mostly when a stranger approaches and I get 'too close' because of my stupid horse and they accidentally bump into them or not even bump, just barely get in their direction and then that stranger either runs away or starts shooting and causes a lot of issues. I really wish they could have done something about this because I really want to get into these awesome missions and they end up screwing up.

One point had me in a shooting contest and I accidentally strayed too far to my horse to get my other gun and the guy started shooting at me. I was trying to defuse but I couldn't and accidentally shot an arrow in his throat. It was the most infuriating thing. I can handle the jankiness of the realism and I enjoy the slow gameplay which seems to need patience but damn this is really the shittiest part of the game.

If on PC, there might be a mod to fix that.

This sounds hilarious
I just wanted a few sections where we got to play as other characters as a change of pace. Like 3 or 4 missions playing as charles, lenny, bill, javier, or sadie. Hell even a single one where you are playing as that rat bastard micah would have been interesting, lol.

as much as I like mods there seems to be a bit of an issue with no updates for those mods. Plus I wanted to run achievements on here.

I just got this dude from this guy's basement and then he said I could take whatever I wanted so I took everything out of the register and then I came back later he suddenly got mad and called the law. I ran at first but then they were after me so i got off my horse and wanted to surrender but it never gave me the option this time. instead, it forced my gun in my hand and I accidentally started shooting because...well habits.

It can be frustrating dealing with NPCs in this game.

In hindsight it was because I shot him with an arrow pointblank and did this cool move with the arrow and even retrieved it. It was a nice auto kill looking animation.

I think we should have Sadie in a sequel. And as much as I like those other characters, I feel like its better to have Arthur because he's so awesome. One of my favorite protagonists and makes me a little irked I have to play as John who I wasn't a real fan of in this game.

"Why are you following me?"

And trying to navigate through Saint Denis can be a nightmare. NPCs jumping out at you, hitting the button to get on your horse too close to a person and accidentally grabbing them, bumping into people that can potentially cause issues...

While it's not perfect, the NPCs are getting better in Rockstar games at least. Hopefully GTA 6 will improve on them as well. We've come a long way from GTA 3.

The witness thing can be unfair sometimes. I was playing a but yesterday and had a random event spawn where I got jumped by some robbers. I killed them all and had a couple of witnesses come by and try to report me for it, even though it was self defense. I know better than to linger around but I was trying to do something in that area and it bit me in the butt.

My actual biggest gripe is cutting off Arthur from the whole lower portion of the map, storyline wise I get Blackwater, but the rest of the area down there was overkill.

Beyond that, level locking certain horses ws arbitrary and pointless.

That first part happened to me. I was walking downstairs from the inn and this guy kept getting angry and I kept defusing the shit. I'm trying to run a clean one but I end up accidentally doing bad things...

As much as its a slog, I try to roleplay it. I enjoy the chores because the game is pretty and I can watch things and I try not to go to the camp too much anyway but my main issue is the NPCs. Its not that it makes it unplayable but it definitely makes it really unenjoyable at times.

I think the biggest bug I dealt with was this preacher at a grave and I jumped off my horse to go see him and as soon as I went to approach he just disappeared. Like a blip. This happened just now even.
To be slightly fair to the witness/wanted system, you are playing as a notorious outlaw who'd be on the FBI's top 10 most wanted list if it was around at the time. There would be some bias. Or at least I try to cope with it by using that logic. Still, it's better than the first one's where wild animals and birds could witness crimes and the bandana/masks can help as long as a cop doesn't see you. Somehow they can see through disguises.

Yep, sounds about right. It happens to all of us.

at one time i was in the shooting contest but i started my shot before he was ready, i guess so he then got angry and shot me, so i had to kill him

So....I'm actually riding and suddenly I hear shooting. I go to check on it and its that guy I killed by accident. He asked if I wanted to challenge him again and told me not to be childish about it this time. Woah wtf! Why would I be childish about some amigo who could come back from the grave to challenge me to shooting birds?!

I'm glad I got my second chance but daaaaamn
