So let me get this straight about The Philippines

The guy currently in charge of the country is the son of the guy who ruled the country as a dictator for 14 years (after having already been President for 7), killed thousands of people, and stole billions of pesos from the country?

It was funny when the Marcos' had to flee and ended up in Hawaii with their diaper boxes full of jewelry. So many Filipinos here welcomed them with open arms.

The voted for the Marcos' and Duterte.

It doesn't help that the generation who hated Marcos mostly died off. That being said, at least Bongbong is not as incompetent as Duterte when it comes to China.

Last names remind people of the good ol days...which were probably never good to begin with. Its also easy marketing due to recognition. Good or bad fame is still fame.

Its insidious what really happened. His family spent hundreds of thousands of dollars and years of time lobbying and politicking. They wound up changing the education system to the point the curriculum was made to not teach about that political scandal, period. It's like "No Child Left Behind" but with the purpose of rewriting history for one, rich and corrupt family

Phillipino millennials and Gen Z'rs have no idea how much that family fucked over their country.
