Hot take, but I think she's fine. Sure she acted ahitty toward Forest sometimes, but she was molested by her dad and constantly got used by assholes her entire life.
I think her reaching out to Forest when she knows she's dying is fine. She didn't hit him up for money, even though she knew she could have the whole time. She was concerned for her kid, which I believe is Forests, and wanted him to not be placed into the system.
