First one I remember playing is Twilight Princess.
The name is wackyteen for a reason. Never doubt.
Played LoZ and The Adventure of Link for my first Zeldas. Grandparents had a NES so every time they babysat me I played them with my grandpa.

SNES/ Link to the Past
A friend of mine owned Zelda 1 and Zelda 2 for the NES so I got to play the games when we hung out, but I didn't like either one of them. Wasn't until LttP on the SNES that I started liking the series. Still don't like Zelda 1 and Zelda 2, though.
Without truth, there is nothing.
N64 via Ocarina of Time. Top tier game though do prefer Twilight Princess.

Currently playing - Scarlet Nexus
NES. 1987 at 11 years old. The original game where it started. To this day some of my best memories in gaming are in the NES era from like 1987 to 1990. I know its nostalgia but I cant help it. Soooooo many good games in that time frame.

Original LoZ. Still have the gold cart. Number 2 as well.

NES. Link to the Past was the first one I actually beat though.

N64, and now I just had a nice memory of when it was running the title screen. A weird nostalgia of that night time of Link riding Epona across that central hub.
I had a SNES, Gameboy Color, and N64, but never played a Zelda game.
Link's Awakening, then Ocarina of Time
No lollygaggin'.
NES. I played the original first, but Zelda 2 was the absolute game of my childhood.
Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.
NES, though I played it on the GBA port.

Also, it was Zelda 2.
There's a difference between canon and not-stupid.
Wii, but it was TP on that console

Bought Wind Waker with whatever money I had saved up, got the strategy guide and got the Master Quest disc. Played Wind Waker then OoT.

Somewhere in that time frame someone let me borrow LttP for Gameboy but I didn't enjoy it (actually I think it was one of the Oracle games?). Used an action replay to get LoZ in Animal Crossing as my memory card came with Balloon Fighter. Maybe played it for five minutes.

I really enjoyed OoT and enjoyed Wind Waker, but after buying Twilight Princess for the Wii and disliking using the wiimote I quit buying Zelda games.
Wind Waker (the version that came with OoT on another disk)
Ignore when people say that the title length is not important, that a title should just convey what the game is about. They're just jealous theirs isn't as long
NES. But I never actually played through one until LttP.
...I think I'm done here...
Either link to the past or the original, I never had an NES, but I played one at the daycare I sometimes went to, I don't remember if they had LoZ or not.

Honestly you made the right choice. Would have been better to play TP on Gamecube but truthfully it wasn't their best effort. Everything since has been trash.

I think LttP, but it may have been Awakening

NES. I don't remember much about Legend of Zelda other than sucking at it.

Ocarina of Time was the first one I ever played, via demo kiosks. It wasn't until later where I played it to completion via...other means. That move got me hooked on the series so I ended up getting legitimate copies of every game one way or another.

I played, and sucked at, Legend of Zelda on the NES. Never got into the other games until Breath of the Wild, which is still the only Zelda game I have beaten
Bosses are immune to the eat command so it won't be possible to end the final boss fight of the game by eating it.

Never played one and never will.

Even though I have had an NES and GameCube I have never liked the looks of the game at all.
Hi
Yet another poll reminding us that CE is old. The average age has to be over 40 at this point.
This is where cool people write stuff.
The original LoZ way back in 1987.
Insert some witty line here

There's probably more to it than that. Selection bias (as in, if your first was BotW you might not be as likely to vote), people who start at the beginning even if it's not the most recent release, maybe more.

I played Legend of Zelda Oracle of Ages on Game Boy Advance

So if was a game boy color game played on a game boy advance system

We suffer from the delusion that the entire universe is held in order by the categories of human thought.
Zelda 1, and I indeed did suck at the game (I was 4 in 1987, lol).

I actually beat adventure of link way before I beat zelda 1 for my first time, and the only reason my brother and I finally managed to clear zelda 1 is because he had got that nintendo power issue that had the entire zelda 1 map and what to do to actually find n' get into each dungeon.

Zelda 2. My sister had a friend in high school that gave away some of his NES game and this was one of them.
It's amazing how people hang around message boards of games they don't like
