Why will nobody pay 2k a month for this 600 square foot apartment?

I'll just live at home with my parents, even if I'm 40. I'd rather spend the meager $450/month I do to keep the lights on this paid off house than fill the pockets of some landlord to the tune of $2000/mo.

And the landlords rather keep it empty than budge on rent prices
Rent (and housing) in my area has remained reasonable. The apartments I used to live at before I bought my house are still under $800 a month and that includes free high speed Internet, free water/trash and extremely cheap utilities. And this is right near the college where things cost more.

It also has on site amenities like a dog park, community pool, stuff like that. As for renting houses those usually go for more in the area because as previously alluded to its a college town. We have one of the main state colleges there and it drives prices up. You need to go outside the local area to some of the smaller surrounding towns for better prices.

More and more are living with their parents and grandparents, I mean a couple of decades ago it wasnt uncommon to hear about single people occupying apartments, now that isnt the case anymore

Surely rent will go down with the supply and demand curve any day now
And yet homelessness is in the rise. The system has failed.

Landlords refuse to lower rent so this is going to be the norm.

I dont expect prices to change much tbh. Theyll probably just offer incentives like first two months free or something

This is how I feel as well. I already pay the electric bill for the downstairs compartment, and also contribute to the household financially as well. Both are far less than what I would be paying in rent.

RIP Sophie the dog: February 2011-april 2024. we'll miss you alot.
I was forced to leave my apartment back in November since the new national company that bought the complex wanted to renovate it to a "luxury" apartment.

They offered for me to move into another apartment, but I went and bought a house instead and my mortgage payment is about the same as what my new rent was going to be
