Ive been recommended these movies online and by one coworker. Theyre like if the Insane Clown Posse made their own slasher franchise.

I really wanted to like them but I didn't like the first one that much and I thought the second was just 'ok' even though I love the idea of it.
They somehow manage to be worse than the Saw franchise in terms of gore porn

You know what you're getting into within the first 10-15 minutes.
They aren't the greatest movies in the genre or anything, but any fan of great gore effects should see them at least once IMO. And Art is probably the only slasher villain of note since Ghostface. In the slasher genre it's all about the kills and Art has some insanely brutal ones to his name.

Haven't seen the second one yet myself though.
Most horror movies are pure dog shit to begin with. Movies like this that the entire gimmick is "hurrr durrr look how gross we can be!" are even worse.
Rage is a hell of an anesthetic.

Scream 1&2 were the only good ones of the franchise, imo.

That's what I actually liked about it though. It's just straight up about the shock and gore. No spending 10 movies creating a nonsensical plot and twist after twist after twist. No trying the spin the obviously heinous person as some sort of vigilante.
It's just "this guy is evil, watch him be evil" and that's it. No pretense at all.

Bruh.
Its not the movies so much as the recent influx of Gen Z Scream fans thinking theyre top of the line horror movies thanks to the newer movies. Theyre fine. The Emma Roberts one was straight up dog water, though.
