Star Wars was already a mess before the Disney purchase

They just made it worse. Now I know a certain part of the fan base will deny it because it goes against their woke conspiracy, but when Lucas first sold the franchise, people were hopeful that it might turn around because its own creator already made such a mess of it. That said, Disney can still turn things around. They just need to make releases more scarce, hire directors that actually have a passion for the ip, and leave them alone to do the job they were paid to do.

I don't see how anyone can watch Attack of the Clones and think it's better than the sequel trilogy

Lucas wanted to make Leia the MAIN protagonist of the sequel trilogy, and to increase the screen time of political debate/senate-type scenes like the ones in the prequels.

As much problems as the sequel trilogy has, it was a blessing they didn't follow his outlines.

attack of the clones is fun at least. Its not a perfect movie but I can sit through it even now and at least enjoy myself.

I cant imagine what it would take to slog through the sequel trilogy a second time though.
