There's nothing extreme left or even left about MSNBC. They're thoroughly establishment/centrist. They absolutely hate the left or any form of opposition to the status quo that's not channeled exclusively into voting for establishment democrats.
The most "left" thing about them is that almost every other major news media outlet has shifted more and more toward the right-wing as per the demands of their billionaire owners. Presumably, Comcast just likes having a centrist/establishment/"liberal"/"left" outlet (the aforementioned MSNBC) in addition to an openly right-wing one (CNBC) for whatever reason.
