Democrats def. should have acted faster-plenty of people were sounding the alarm that the GOP was becoming cult like in the 90s. But pretending these sides have equal responsibility is pretty ridiculous.

Our entire system of government for 247 years has been based on the unwritten idea that all involved are going to act in good faith. The GOP decided not to do this and break the system on purpose. The Democrat only sin was hoping too long that they would come to their senses to avoid the exact situation we have now: a broken government that doesnt work at all. This system cannot work when one side has decided to abandon good faith governing, no matter what the Dems. did or didnt do.

We can all regret that Democrats havent been more aggressive, but lets put the blame where it belongs. The GOP set out to break the system purposefully-a system that does not have many built in safeguards for bad faith actors.

Various government mechanisms weren't designed to be abused. The filibuster could be used to enrich debate, explain at length a bill's ramifications. Or to be an obstructive shitstorm.
