Oh she just shored up the psychopath vote, sure. But she massively overestimates how much of the voting bloc that actually is; because if there's one thing that traditional WASPs hate more than (what they deem) cruelty towards the unborn, it's cruelty towards animals, especially pets.
IMO her story has an intended audience of one person (Trump), and I think it will be a big hit with Trump. Should dog-murderer Noem get the VP pick, I'm sure anyone in the GOP base that presently cares about cruelty to animals will find an excuse for that to no longer matter.
