If you were a writer, what properties would you borrow/steal from?

In my ~real writing~, nothing. I definitely let my liking for certain works influence the direction I take my own writing, and I'll occasionally put my own spin on some interesting ideas I encounter, but I make a point not to outright "steal" anything.

In my for funsies stuff, though? Oh, man, everything . Settings, casts, rule systems, you name it. I'll even just straight-up rewrite the original plot with tweaks to suit the story I'm telling. Just about the only thing that differs between my fics and the original work is characterization!
