They really were. Im still dealing with shit in my 30s, but I like to get ahead of myself with my pauses and second thoughts. I like to hope to never stop learning.

I hear you. While my posts in here might be coming off as bad, I have been explaining my thoughts at the times of my actions. Am I perfect? No. Is anyone? Definitely not. I too, have been growing and learning and trying to better myself.

Back when we fought, I will say, I never would have thought I'd be saying it to you, but really happy for you on the things you've been doing for yourself, and only hope things that are still demons you are fighting, are soon overcome.

I appreciate that. My biggest challenge at the moment is finding a job in my chosen field after I graduated college and got married last year. The market is fucking rough at the moment, so a lot of my stress sometimes gets misdirected. Dealing with that too. Im happy for you too.

I understand that. My friend's brother got a degree in computer science and has a bachelors for coding. He can't even get a job because of 'entry' requirements. Coding of all jobs. A job that practically every company that accesses the internet could use at least in some grain.

What is your specific chosen field?

Thats pretty much my story. Mine is Wildlife Management and Forestry. Ive been outmatched from around twelve jobs because someone else came along with two or three years of experience, when their experience was in the same program I was in. And I have that same experience listed on my resume. Im like wtf dude.

That sucks. Does he have any internships? I remember it being a pain for me to get a job out of school with the same degree.

I don't believe so. Funny enough, I work in biotech system management and my degree is, I kid you not, international relations. (I don't do coding things but I have been here for 4 and a half years now, so it's working out funny enough. Never thought I'd have a job like this.)

I know one of my two CEOs stated back in 2019 to let him know of anyone with experience in two languages of coding. Issue is, we haven't had an opening, so I told him to watch my company and if an opening fits and he applies, I'd put in the word for him atleast. But he's been so depressed about it lately, I feel bad. There's really nothing I can do unless an opening happens.

That really sucks. It's really a giant wall. It's like, "Yes, we want you to have a degree, but this can't be your first job in this field"...... Okay, so if it can't be my first job in this field, WHERE CAN I GO TO GET MY FIRST JOB IN THIS FIELD!?

Companies are so scared to take a chance on people, but are happy to complain that their staffing is short and some like to complain that people don't want to work anymore. It's like "Uhh.... yeah we do. We just don't meet your 'quota' for the job" ....

If every company was open to this idea of actually stressing 'entry level' without those years of experience, then a lot of the job market problems would be gone. I guess beggers can be choosers.

Are you applying with the USFS? I recall FIA jobs being plentiful back in the day, not to mention seasonal jobs, including firefighting.

Nice. At my old job, one of the lead architects just has a degree in history. Super smart dude. I didn't have any internships out of school, so I just filled my resume with projects I worked on, and added a bullshit experience job where all I really did was create a small app for my brother for his work. I put myself as a contract developer. Hope he gets a job soon though. My old coworker was struggling to find a place as well, and he has experience.

Sometimes you need to do that. I have lots of friends and family without jobs. I tell them all the time to add stupid shit because it can help. Take a WPM typing test. Do those little exam things on LinkedIn to get those proficiency badges on your account. If you worked in the public, put 'Experience managing public situations' or things like that. Up-sell yourself on the most trivial things and you can make your resume look amazing. I mean, for many, it's the least you can really do and it has worked for me in past jobs.
