Nope. You'll catch a ton of references but I think it is pretty self contained with no knowledge needed from the games.
Trying is the first step towards failure, so just dont give it a shot and you cant dissapoint.

Nope. My 64-year-old mom who's never touched a video game in her life outside of the original Pac-Man arcade loved it.
