Not to mention that it is rarely the job of the janitor to clean microwaves, certainly not where I work.

Not using microwave covers is a pet peeve of mine. A simple paper towel over food even works if you don't have a cover handy.

Haven't been back to an office since 2020 lol, definitely don't miss this. Thankfully my current job's office is 700+ miles away so they don't expect me in too much

I didnt know such a thing as a microwave cover existed, but an upside down Dixie plate or paper towels have always worked for me depending on what it is.
