This is like asking somebody to explain sarcasm to them and how to identify it.
How do you know somebody is being sarcastic when they say "Oh, I can't wait?" Taken literally, they're saying they can't wait, but because they said it in a funny or dry way you know they mean the opposite. And while it's sometimes difficult, you can determine if somebody is being sarcastic via writing. So, context is key...but how did we come to associate a funny way of speaking means you're saying the opposite? When did we pick up on that in our lives? Where or when did the concept even originate? Chances are you can't remember and never even thought about it, because it's something you just knew. Sometimes, "Oh, I can't wait," means the opposite of "Oh, I can't wait," and that concept makes literally no sense if you don't apply critical thinking and life experience.
In the same way, at some point you realized some things are meant to be slightly tantalizing and some things are meant to be extremely tantalizing. Even if it can't be easily put into words I know you know what the difference is, so quit pretending. Just shut up and eat your food.
