Possibly, but if it was I would think it would affect Dragona since she's been the main carrier for the lava rock. I don't think Usagi ever actually came into direct contact with it.
Maybe he's secretly been a rock human the whole time and that's why he keeps his entire body covered?
That would honestly be a cool twist. Having a rock human as one of the protagonists, maybe we'll have a concrete answer why the rock humans actually hate humans rather than just saying "they're incompatible with each other". I like the rock humans to be explored more and this might be Araki's chance to dig deeper into it.
