The video, in general, is good to illustrate how you can make conversations easier for people.

When you dont add opinions or questions back, you are not a good conversationist in general. As a safe rule of thumb.

If you dont want a conversation, then just say that too. In a nice way ofc.
A show of kindness may not do much help, but a show of cruelty may do much harm.

Yeah it's like basic social cues; if someone is giving you one-word answers and their body language clearly indicates they don't want to have a conversation, then just drop the small talk.
