the tl:dw is, a lady was being held hostage by her ex, the cops charge into the apartment and shoot the assailant multiple times.... and then the support man comes in and just blows the dude's head off with a shotgun

Would it be a reasonable assumption to say the man posed an immediate threat of death or serious injury?

If yes, then justified.

If no, then not.

It's hard to say - he was armed but he had also been shot multiple times and was basically subdued

Don't feel like watching the video but based on the description it does not sound justified but it sounds like he was basically dead anyway.

Absolutely justified. Guy was down but was clearly not out. He was still conscious and waving his gun around. Cant just leave it to chance.
