Did Jimmy Fallon make it so they're encouraged to break character and laugh during the skit?

I'm not saying it isn't a funny skit, it's just that I'd think professionals could manage to do that so when I see so many skits where the actors are just laughing at everything IDK. Maybe it just stands out to me more now.

Watch anytime that Gosling is on the show, and any skit he is in. He is a very infectious laugh person, and a lot of times, seeing him break just makes others break too.
