old eti was horrible for a number of reasons, but you'd find your niche and just hang out there. any kind of political discussion was just as toxic - if not more toxic than on here. a lot of the general discussion was just super cliquey and if you weren't IN THE CLIQUE, you'd just be ignored or made fun of for not being in the clique.

new eti, people apparently can't take jokes, and unless you're best friends w/ a mod, they'll hate dogpile you off the site w/ lies, after they've suspended you for said jokes, so you can't defend yourself.

I don't remember politics being a big issue as I avoided them as much as I could. The issue was the enabling of toxic behaviors. Lots of people on LL used it as their outlet to project their misery on to others and unfortunately Weaville wasn't smart enough to see it. Having a bad day? then you might like the new shift from "rules based moderation" to "vibes based moderation". users were able to act shitty without technically breaking the limited rule set

but with vibes based moderation pretty much every user who is a persistent shitbird has been banned by now, while also not having an oppressive set of rules
