My lease is up in July and I still havent been told if I am getting a lease extension. That really doesnt give me much time to pack and find a new place. I reached out in March and they told me that they would probably have the answer by early April. Now its halfway through April and I am still waiting.

Tenants dont have rights, and the rights that we do have are held hostage by the fact that you need references to rent now. Basically, if you exercise your rights and force the landlord to do something, theyre not going to give you a positive reference, so tenants really have to sit there and be glad they found something. How is this right?

Tenants should be informed six months before the end of their lease whether the contract will be extended. For reference, I asked the property management company and theyre basically saying lady who owns the house is the holdup. The reason that Im so nervous is because a one dollar raise in rent means Im moving (for the second time in two years).
