I thought this was already a done thing. I swear in another topic you posted you were single even though you were still married you lived in a different state and she was back in Canada or something like that. Maybe another user but I swear that was you.No, that sounds like me. And that discussion I likely said that I was "single" in that I didn't live with my life and so I'm living the life of a bachelor despite being married. My wife lives less than 2 hours across the border and I already have my Canadian Permanent residency card. It was just down to finding a job in Canada and moving there at this point.
How long was it?5 years at this point.
Siunds like it has been bad for awhile, so just rip that bandaid off.Yeah dude, thats fucking solid advice. I have managed to acquire a pretty sweet circle of friends in my time in Washington State. I've come to LOVE this place and I do not want to move back to the east coast. I got a pretty solid job, a solid apartment in Downtown Bellevue.
And yeah, get in shape, get your confidence back, go to social events (Meetup is great), and then start dating again. My post divorce life was a ton of fun. It's all about attitude.

I got divorced when I was 40 and never had the single, adult life. I basically acted like I was 25 for a couple years. That is probably why I met my now wife when she was 25, but we didn't start dating for 3 years.
The insane thing is this is the first time I've ever been truly independent. Back on the east I was always tied with family, and in Washington I was tied to my wife and her family.
Now, I'm truly independent of anybody and free. Its as exciting as it is terrifying. But at the end of the day I recognize that there will be no one taking care of me, watching my health, I am truly responsible for that now. So I have to get into shape and get very healthy for that reason too.

If you got any more advice for me and people in my situation, would love to hear it.
I see. Smart smart man. Major dubs, bro. If you got any more advice for me and people in my situation, would love to hear it.Use Meetup
Use MeetupI will DM for sure. And no I don't have kids thankfully. That would've added a gigantic wrench in my life if she got pregnant and the situation ended the way it did.
Say "yes" to experiences and invitations no matter how much out of your comfort zone or even if just feeling tired in the moment
Don't rush a new serious relationship. If something truly clicks, go for it, but don't end fun flings just because you know it won't last. This is your chance to focus on the journey, not the destination
I have lots of advice for dating apps. Feel free to DM anytime
Do you have kids btw?

Meetup is for friends, building a social circle, and going to events. No one cares if you are a little chubby. That said, relationships start due to Meetup all the time. I helped run one from 2017 to 2020 (fucking Covid) and we did a little of everything (movies, game nights, bar crawls, bar trivia, brewery events, hiking, karaoke, rafting, house parties). We became a close knit group and a lot of relationships and FwB started up. But if you go to Meetup events and are clearly just trying to hit on women, you could be kicked out. I kicked out a few guys for harassment.
As for Meetup, that does sound interesting. I have the app on my phone but rarely used it. Maybe I should workout first lose a few pounds and build some of my confidence back before using apps like this?
