I thought Final Fantasy VII's story was above and beyond what you would expect from a video game at the time.I thought it was incredible when it released. Then in my jaded late teens/early 20, I thought it was "overrated" after playing other RPGs. Then I came back around after replaying it and realized it really was amazing, and even way better than I gave it credit for when it came out.
