Takes like this confuse me - do you think not having a medical and legal way to end your life is a better option? This way involves many doctors looking over the case and trying to help before euthanasia is an option. People who want to die wont suddenly stop dying if they dont have this option, they just wont seek the same level of treatment and forces someone to inevitably find their body after they end their life themselves.

As someone who went through the process with my wife here in Canada, I do like the fact that medical professionals do have to take a look at the case and give suggestions on what can/needs to be looked at for assistance before MAID was allowed. It allows the medical field in general to have a final chance to save a life before it ends. It can connect people to different specialists who might be able to provide some form of care that will raise quality of life to a point the patient is comfortable with. My wife proved that she had tried everything conceivable and that the downtrend of her medical state was basically cruel and unusual (her Ehlors Danlos was getting to the point where she was losing her ability to swallow. Combined with MCAS allergies to A LOT of different stimuli, any movement forward would have been basically hell and the MAID assessors agreed).
