Someone on the comics board reminded me that the crossover doesn't actually happen in the Invincible comic, but a comic published by Marvel. All you see in the actual comic Invincible is Spidey's hand and Ock's back.
So I guess I prefer the scene posted in the OP to what they were allowed to do in the comic. At least we see
some
of the Marvel published side of things rather than just omitting it completely.
The first page mazingetter posted is from the crossover Marvel published, the second page is from the main Invincible book following that crossover as you can see by them doing the same thing with Batman, just showing enough to have you recognize who Mark is talking to without actually using the likeness.
I actually didn't know that. I wish DC had done something too for Invincible's meeting with Batman
