Nobody to my knowledge has ever lost a copy of a digital game, or if its happened, its exceedingly rare.

Nope
and don't forget about digital only consoles. Soon digital only consoles may be the only option availableThen don't buy them. If the digital only consoles don't sell, they'll either have to bring physical options back or step away from the console market.
Literally happens all the fucking timeProvide a single example of someone who purchased a game on Steam actually losing that copy, rather than it just being removed from the store so people who dont own it already cant purchase it. Ive got over 1000 games, havent lost access to a single one removed from the store that I owned already.

Valve: "You will lose your Steam library if you don't upgrade your operating system"Nobody is losing their Steam library drama queen. Losing access to your library until you upgrade to an OS that isn't ancient and losing your library are two very different things. Try reading beyond the title next time.

Holy shit man I know you're a Steam fanboy but holy shit it's right there in their own words
The company announced in a recent blog post that Steam will cease to support legacy Windows systems such as Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1.No where in there or in that blog post does Valve say "You will lose your Steam library if you don't upgrade your operating system." The library isn't going anywhere. It will be there when you upgrade whether it takes 2 months or 20 years.
As of January 1 2024, Steam will officially stop supporting the Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 operating systems. After that date, the Steam Client will no longer run on those versions of Windows. In order to continue running Steam and any games or other products purchased through Steam, users will need to update to a more recent version of Windows.
The reason for the update is due to the client's reliance on "an embedded version of Google Chrome". However, because this embedded version of Google Chrome no longer functions on earlier versions of Windows, the Steam Client will no longer function. Not only that, but future versions of the client will require different Windows features and security updates that are only accessible for Windows 10 and higher.
Although support will stop in 2024, Valve strongly encourages users to upgrade to the latest Windows operating system.

Why not just update to Windows 10 or 11? >_>imo windows 7 was the best, and the only reason i upgraded to 10 was because newer hardware wouldnt be compatible with 7
i'm going to, as soon as i get around to figuring out how to do so legitimately without it costing an arm and a leg.I'm pretty sure it's free. You might have to go to 8 first. Unless your hardware doesn't support tpm 2.0 or doesn't have enough memory it should be free
i believe when i looked it up, it is free if you have a legit copy of Windows 7 and still have your product key. i, uh, had help building my PC back in the day from a friend at the time, who gave me a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate to install, and SWORE to me that it was completely legit. but that turned out to not exactly be the case. and either way, i've never personally had the product key.Oh... Well you can always just download and install Windows 11 straight from Microsoft for free. They'll get pissy after a month and turn your wallpaper black and some letters in the corner that says "plz license this OS" but they let you keep using it.
