I've always used TurboTax but would have to buy the $100 version this year and Cash App is free. Wondering how good it is compared to TT.

Jack Dorsey is the head of Square/Block. Nuff said for most people.

Is he worse than Elon?

I've done it the last few years. I liked it better when it was credit karma tax, but it's still essentially the same. Cash App taxes is pretty quick and gives me a decent return. I definitely think it's worth saving $100 for.

You can auto-fill your W-2 form. After that, it's only filling in the other forms you have.

There's also another cheap option that has free federal and a small fee for state taxes, but I forget the name of that one.

I'll have to file eBay sales this year because my stupid state's threshold is $600. As long as it can do that I might as well try it.

Because I don't think I can do the eBay stuff with deluxe. Home and Business is over $100 with tax.

Not good money but extra spending money. Sometimes ebay makes more off it than I do.

Don't ever use TurboTax... it's such a waste of money.

If you kept track of everything, you can do it on your own. If not, there are professionals that would probably charge you less than TurboTax...
Blah, blah, blah, and blah.
i dont understand why people in the usa are charged money to do their own taxes. Am i just getting skewed/agenda'd information here? Probably. I mean, it's very simple financial reasoning that if it costs someone more to do their taxes than they will get back, you're going to lower your submission rate.

in canada, the government website has "partnership" platforms. each year there's a new startup that has a free version, and they all pull past history into their programs fairly seamlessly. It is baffling that only one has a desktop version, the rest is web applets or, good lord, mobile apps. Who the hell does taxes on their phone?!!?

13.25% on most stuff. It can be more or less depending on what it is for whatever reason. Amazon charges what, 15%?

I also make money on shipping most of the time. I put in the item weight and dimensions and the buyer pays whatever that comes to, which is always more than what I have to pay with ebay labels. Like the thing I sold yesterday the buyer paid $14+ shipping and I was only charged a little over $9. Boxes and bubble wrap can be expensive too so I guess it covers that.

Some people's only internet access is mobile. Like my mom. She hasn't had a computer in years. I fucking hate mobile apps.
