Smacking a small topic with a tangent, sorry:

I've been thinking, since that other topic with the coal town's poisoned water, that there must be bit of a horseshoe curve when you get to those really hillbilly areas. Much of their resources aren't sourced and delivered for them; they get water from the land and hunt for food. Deregulation fucks up the environment they draw from, so of course certain parts of deep red areas would vote blue; immediate survival outweighs bigotry, and I think the ability to reproduce has a similar priority.
