Onside kicks will still exist but you have to announce them ahead of time.

I see this having a ton of backlash from traditionalists for a few weeks before everyone realizes this is way better.

I am said traditionalist. Honestly the longer time goes on and the more the sport gets bastardized the less I find myself watching it.

If it decreases the amount of horseshit kickoff penalties I'm all for it.

I don't really keep up with football, what's the change?

the players on both teams are lining up downfield instead of running at each other from opposing sides. No more dramatic clash as they meet.

In all seriousness, The NFL should change the Kicking rules.. 90% ( it seems if not more) of kicks fly into the end zone.... kinda stupid.

That looks acceptable

I'm all for player safety, but it looks like all you need to do is make one good cut and beat the kicker. I guess I'll need to see it in action more.

Give the team a point if the kick off goes through the uprights. You'll immediately kill the entire concept of a kick return.

Seems like a good change, Im sure theyll keep experimenting with things to make kickoffs better without them being too dangerous.

Cant wait to hear oldheads complain that people arent getting enough concussions these days.
Yup lord knows there's never been a concussion in soccer lmao

Considering how people treat football like they treat religion or politics, I feel like there will be a lot of fighting. A lot of 'snowflakes are doing this to us' arguments.

Well that's no fun. Half the fun of kick-off was laying out some poor schmuck who wasn't paying attention.

Concussions and CTE are a big problem in soccer. That's what you get when a large part of the game is challenging to head the ball. The repeated skull-on-leather contact is bad enough, but the frequent clashes of unprotected heads is worse.

What does that have to do with the NFL trying to make their game more safe, though?

I don't understand what soccer has anything to do with this.
It says right here in Matthew 16:4 "Jesus doth not need a giant Mecha."

Did that basically stop when the receivers mostly take knee, if it stayed on the field at all.

I'm looking forward to it. We won't be getting touchbacks 90% of the time. And touchbacks weren't even safe anyway. By the time the returner took a knee guys were already colliding at full speed.

I also think it has potential to make kickoffs even more fun than before touchbacks became so common. It's practically the first play from scrimmage now, and I think it will leave more room for designed plays on kickoffs. And since it's safer teams might be more willing to use starters on special teams. I hate seeing dynamic returners like Tyreek Hill lose their job since they are too valuable on offense.

Why bother with a kickoff, just run past everyone at the start of the game and get the first touchdown rofl
Without truth, there is nothing.

Unless there's terrible weather, it seems like everything is just touchbacks anyway.
